Born and raised in New Orleans, I came to Lafayette, to attend the University of Southwestern Louisiana, from which I graduated in 1966, as a government and history major. While at Southwestern I was active with various campus organizations and always having a preference for athletics.

After graduation I earned a commission in the United States Marine Corps, and while serving three years active duty, I developed an interest in officiating and coaching major sports in preparing Marine teams for inter-service competition. It was upon my return to Lafayette, in 1970, and while developing a career in sales and raising my family that I began pursuing a degree in Health & Physical Education. I began teaching and coaching during the 70’s, which continued until 1995.

I began appraising real estate in 1994, and ended my 16 years in education, to become a full-time appraiser during the summer of 1995. Christina & I opened Albert S. Cain Real Estate Appraiser’s, L.L.C., in 1999. Laura joined us in 2002.

In addition to my daughters, I have one son Shannon, who is married with one daughter and lives in Lafayette. I have a stepdaughter Erin, who is married and living in New Orleans. My stepson Jeremy, is a freshman at theUniversity of Louisiana Lafayette. My wife is Susan Courcier-Cain, a teacher of twenty seven years.

My civic interests include the Chamber of Commerce, the Beaver’s Club and professionally I am a member of the Realtors Association of Acadiana and the Acadiana Mortgage Lenders Association. I enjoy the outdoors and sporting events. I have enjoyed sports all of my life as an athlete, coach and official. I have a special interest in raising and training my Siberian Husky.
